Ice Lolly Recipes

We have been waiting for Summer and now is here. This means that it is time to do some lollies for the kids and why not for the parents as well. For me, ice lolly has to be healthy but with nice flavours and colours! I don’t have kid but my boyfriend was happy to be my kid  when I tried to create some recipes. It is a great idea to prepare the lollies with the kids. Of course, don’t forget to tell them that they need to wait 1 day before eating them!

For all the recipes below, you only need to mix all the ingredients in a blender.

Vanilla Strawberry Lolly

Serves 4

  • 5 table spoons if vanilla yogurt
  • 160 g strawberries
  • 2 tea spoons icing sugar
  • 1 ml vanilla extract

In my first try, I didn’t put vanilla extract and we couldn’t taste vanilla. I think adding 1 ml of vanilla extract can resolve this matter.

Banana Kiwi Lolly

Seves 4

  • 1 big banana
  • 1 kiwi
  • 5 table spoons lemonade

This one is my favourite one because I could taste both flavours. We can replace lemonade by yogurt to have a smoother lolly.

Rum Pineapple Lolly

Now that we have done the lolly for the kids, let’s create one for Mum and Dad!

  • 3 tablespoons crushed pineapple
  • 2 tablespoons lemonade
  • 5 ml rum

In my opinion we don’t taste rum enough. Don’t believe that I am an alcoholic but rum is the interest of this recipe. I didn’t want to put too much rum when I did the first try as alcohol doesn’t freeze!

Please note that this recipes are tests that I did in my laboratory kitchen. They probably need some adjustments to adapt them to your taste. However, they can give you ideas to create your own lollies. Don’t hesitate to post comments on these recipes.

Chocolate Marble Cake

I am not a cake person but I love chocolate marble cake because it is related to my childhood. When I was a kid, I loved the chocolate marble cake from a French brand called Brossard (Savane de Brossard). I still think this is the best marble cake I have ever eaten because of its unique delicious taste. However, the recipe below is almost as tasty as the Savane!

For 6 persons

  • 100g butter
  • 150g sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 10cl milk
  • 200g flour
  • 2 table spoons of baking powder
  • 20g of vanilla sugar or 3 table spoons of vanilla extract
  • 3 table spoons of cocoa powder

Preheat the oven at 180°c.

Melt the butter in a microwave.

In a bowl, mix the melted butter, the sugar and the four egg yolks.

Add 10cl of milk, the flour and the baking powder.

In a clean bowl, whisk the egg whites until thick and stiff. Add them to the preparation.

Divide the mixture in two parts.

In one of them, add the vanilla sugar or vanilla extract. In the other one, add the cocoa powder.

Pour some of the vanilla preparation in a cake tin. Add some of the chocolate one. Keep pouring the preparation by layers.

Bake at 180°C at least 45 min. (baking time depends on the oven…)

Once baked, turn the cake out of the tin and let it cool down.
